Fear Busting In Business excerpted from "Change Your Life Right Now"

Author: Dr. Iris Fanning

The fear of failure is a common drawback in business and in life. Somehow you've convinced yourself that if you fail at this, it would be terrible. Let's reframe what you tell yourself. First, if you fail, you've learned what you needed to learn. There is no failure in experimenting. Second, even if you fall short of your original goal, you are still much closer then you would have been if you didn't take action. You may have obstacles, it may not happen in the time frame you first thought. That doesn't mean you've failed.

Finally, write this down and memorize this. You don't get good at something you fear without doing the thing you fear!!! Read it again. Now again. Did you memorize it? Here it is again, "I won't get good at whatever it is I fear without doing the thing I fear." Now stop, reread and memorize this. Every time you do what you fear, two things happen; 1) You get better and more competent at the new thing your are trying; and 2) You develop more courage, confidence and a feeling of self empowerment!

Something new; something you really want always has an edge of fear/excitement. I had a wonderful acting teacher that taught us to rename this fear. Instead of fear, she explained this was really performance energy. It's that energy, juice, passion...yes a bit of fear, which keeps us on high octane with new ideas and actions. Thank your fear for being present. See if your change is too big a risk (puts you in danger financially, emotionally or physically). If it does, stop, it's a poor choice. It is better for you not to make destructive choices. If your fear is in your imagination...the " what ifs", the "I'll never do it" then reframe and move forward.
